by Rochelle Barcellona I decided recently to switch our standard five-day work week to four days. I did a bunch of research and checked with agencies across the country that had also made the move. All said that it was a positive experience for employees and clients. I look at it from the perspective of giving my employees a three-day weekend every week. More time off doing pursuits other than work keeps them fresh and inspired. Plus, they’ll save time commuting, not to mention saving money on gas. We’ll have more time to work on creative projects during the four days. And, we’ll be lessening our impact on the environment. Everyone on the staff was excited when I made the announcement. I notified our clients, who were all supportive, and then sent out an eblast to our vendors and the media with whom we work on a regular basis. Bob Shallit from The Sacramento Bee was intrigued and wrote a quick piece on it for his column. He posted it on their website around noon yesterday and within a half hour Channel 13 was calling me wanting to do an interview. They popped over to the office and we were featured on the 10pm news last night. Thought you might want to take a peek.
