David Gross and I are here in Orlando, Florida for the International Builder Show along with 90,000 other people from the real estate industry. We received an early Valentine’s present last night wth our Gold Award win at The Nationals, which is the National Association of Home Builders’ awards program for marketing new homes. Our Gold win was for Best Marketing Campaign for a Green Community, which was created for Fallen Leaf at Riverbend, a Treasure Homes community in Sacramento. (Big High Fives to Lesley for managing the account and Julie and Beth for design.) I don’t remember my acceptance speech, which could be from the excitement of winning or the Move.com martinis. Both are valid excuses. We also won a Silver Award for Best Website for this very website that you are checking out! Our last award was a Regional Award for Best Digital Marketing Tool for a very nice electronic brochure we created for Madeira, a master planned community in Elk Grove, CA.
You know that old saying about suggering for your art? Well, my suitcase was so heavy from the awards—and perhaps I’m too much of a lightweight—that I injured my hand and am now in a brace for two weeks. But it was all worth it! No complaints (just some Motrin) here. While we brought the awards home, I was happy to leave Orlando behind. Don’t really love flying across the country to live in wierd, wild weather. It was 45 degrees one morning, 78 degrees one afternoon and we had tornado warnings! So our “Oscar” (He really does kind of look like one.) is gracing the lobby right next to the pirate.
