by Rochelle Barcellona So I ran my first ever 10K today. Well, running would be a bit of an exaggeration actually. I’ve been training on what couldn’t be called a regular basis. However, I did run six miles along Lake Natoma the weekend before the race and was surprised at how easy it was. I was unprepared for how 90 degree heat and six miles of shadeless trail hits you like a sledge hammer. My iPod died and I felt I was close to dying as well. No music. No motivation. No shade. Not nearly enough water stations. No hope for someone to come rescue me. So I trudged along because I felt I had no other option. It wasn’t the glorious run I had hoped for, but instead the satisfaction that the paramedics didn’t have to take me off the trail. But, undeterred, I am training for the Disneyland Half Marathon in August. We’ll see if I can keep up with Goofy and Daffy.
